Challenge of the week: What's in season? Winter produce

Try to buy mainly in season produce next time you go shopping. Lets make it a challenge! Let me know if you manage to stick to the in season produce next time you go shopping. I will make a special post dedicated to those who meet this challenge head on.

Q: How do you know what vegetables and fruits are in season?

A: As it is now mid-winter (at least in my Hemisphere), here's a list of what fruits and vegetables are winter produce and are in season now.

Root Vegetables:
This includes but is not limited to-
Potatoes
Carrots
Beets
Parsnips
Jerusalem Artichokes
Onions
Horseraddish
Sweet potatoes
Rutabaga
Turnips
Kohlrabi
Celeriac/Celery root

Greens and Cole Family
Romaine Lettuce
Beet Greens
Turnip greens
Mustard greens
Swiss chard
Brussel Sprouts
Endive
Radicchio
Kale
Cabbage
Broccoli
Cauliflower

Other Vegetables:
Celery
Fennel
Butternut squash
Pumpkin
Acorn squash
Spaghetti squash

Fruit
Citruses:
Clementines
