5 Benefits of Sending Your Child to Private School

There's no question about it, private school is much more expensive than public school. If you're a frugal minded person, then, why would you send your children to private school? Are there any benefits that your children can get there that make it worth the extra expense? As a private school student myself, it was interesting to read this post from a reader on that topic. One thing that this does not talk about, though, is that many people send their children to religious private schools, that provide an education on your religion that public school won't do (and for good reason).

We all want to do our best for our children and give them the best life we possibly can. Education is a huge factor in a child's life as it can mold them into the adult they will become and, to an extent, determine the path they will follow in life. So choosing the right school for them is an important decision. Should you send them to a state school or go private? Many of us don't know the exact ins and outs of private education and what it has to offer. To assist you with your thoughts, here are 5 benefits of sending your child to private school.

Small Classes

Many schools, such as The Summit Private Preparatory School in Springfield, MO, have smaller classes than state schools, with around 15 students per class. This is a considerable benefit of private schooling as some state schools can have up to 33 students in a class, making it extremely difficult for teachers to devote enough time to each student and get to know them well.

Fewer students in a class mean that the teacher can spend a reasonable amount of time with each student. They can get to know the student personally, recognize their strengths and weaknesses and tailor their teaching and schoolwork around this.

High Graduation Rates

It is a fact that nearly 100% of private school students will graduate from senior school, whereas this figure is around 80% for state schools.

Extracurricular Activities

Most private schools have excellent out-of-school activities as the school has more financial resources. Students can enjoy participating in art, sport, chess, swimming, dancing, and music classes after school and at weekends, increasing their learning and development even more.

Overseas trips and excursions to exciting places are other perks enjoyed by private school students. Exclusive institutions are more likely to approve letting a small number of students from a private school class through their doors for an educational visit than a vast number from a state school. Attending a private school opens doors; a state school cannot.

Parental Input

Parents are encouraged to participate in their child's education in a private school, probably more so than if they were in a state school, as they are paying a considerable amount for the service. Teacher-parent meetings are a regular occurrence at private schools and not just for ten minutes once or twice a year.

Facilities

With plenty of financial resources, private schools have a more extensive range of facilities than state schools. Olympic-sized swimming pools, golf courses, drama theaters, playing fields, gym halls, high-tech computers, audiovisual devices, and even top-notch catering facilities are commonplace at a private school. Your child will have access to all of the latest equipment and trends.

Choosing the right school for your child is a big decision. Obviously, private schools cost a lot of money, and you need to take that into consideration. However, your money may be well spent because your child will receive a quality education with plenty of opportunities to learn practically anything their heart desires.
