I find that white sugar doesn't work too well. Molasas is what makes them grow the quickest in my experience, after that sucernat and after that brown cane sugar. I always add a pinch of himalayan salt or sea salt as they thrive when there are a lot of minerals XD. They tripled...Well, my grains are multiplying fast. They tripled in volume after only 3 batches. But my water kefir isn't fizzy or tart at all. It tastes like sugar water. After reading this recipe I see that maybe my mistake has been that I have been using filtered water. Maybe I will try it again with tap water I've left out over night.
