4 Essential Ingredients for a Healthy Life

This post was written by Leslie Benson, an organic food and natural health advocate. Hopefully it'll teach you about some interesting items for promoting a healthy lifestyle that you can include in your daily life.

It’s hard to find time to do all the things necessary to maintain a healthy lifestyle. We don’t always have time to go to the gym or cook wholesome meals. Many of us live busy lives and our health ends up taking a back seat to the demands of everyday life. Luckily there are a few products and nutrient we can use to give our body a little extract support in no time at all.

These include essential oils, turmeric, collagen, and biotin. Each of these have been researched for the ability to help address health issues, including the all important easing of stress. Incorporating any of these into your daily diet is easy, budget friendly, and may have long lasting benefits for your health.

Essential Oils

Essential Oils are all the rage right now, but many people use them for aromatherapy without understanding full benefits each type of oil can provide. Essential oils do a lot more than freshen up a room. These concentrated essences provide a big impact on your mental and physical health, says Quick Doctor.

We all recognize that life can get incredibly stressful and we don’t always have time to take a personal health day. Integrating something small like lavender or eucalyptus oil into your daily routine can work wonders. Lavender is incredibly calming and known to alleviate stress and anxiety. Studies have even shown that it has a similar effect in the brain as anti-anxiety medication. For additional calming support, mix eucalyptus oil with lavender for a more potent effect.

For a headache, peppermint oil is a great quick fix. Just rub a drop or two on your wrists or temples and breathe. Alternatively, oils like tea tree and rosemary can help clear out your sinuses.

Essential oils are also very adaptable and have a way of reading and conforming to your body’s needs. There are hundreds of essential oils all containing a plethora of benefits. Try keeping a few in your purse to have on hand when you need a little pick-me-up throughout the day.

Standard size 0.3 ounce essential oil bottles will cost around $5. This looks like a lot of money, but keep in mind that quality oils come highly concentrated so you will only need a few drops when mixed with a carrier oil or added to a diffuser.

Turmeric Root

Turmeric root is another great supplement to add to your daily regime. Turmeric is an incredibly nutritious spice, frequently used in Middle Eastern cooking, but flavor isn’t the only thing this root has to offer. Turmeric has long been used throughout history to support the health of joints, the heart, respiratory system, digestive system, the brain, skin tissue, and the immune system.

In addition, turmeric is being used more and more for ‘mood health, and alleviating anxiety and depression. In several studies, curcumin, a compound found in turmeric root, researchers found that this herb can induce calmness and promote positive thoughts.

One of the best and tastiest ways to ingest turmeric is by making golden milk. It’s easy and tasty and can be a great morning treat to wake you up and get you on a positive and productive path for the day. Not to mention it provides anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties.

Turmeric supplements range in price from around $15 to $50. The higher priced supplements may have a higher concentration and advertise proprietary herbal extraction technology, but the cheaper alternatives tend to work just as well.

Collagen

Collagen is best known for its beautifying properties, but it also packs a lot of other health benefits. Collagen makes up thirty percent of the protein in our bodies and plays key roles in our skin, hair, bone, muscle, cartilage, and tendon health. Studies show that collagen also affects our metabolism, which helps us maintain a normal weight and blood sugar levels. Collagen supplements have also been shown to help with leaky gut syndrome, liver health, and the normal functioning of the kidneys.

You will find collagen in personal care products like moisturizers, makeup, and conditioners, or in supplements like capsules or drink mixes. Prices can vary dramatically so it’s easy to find yourself paying more than $100 for a few ounces of ‘reverse aging cream.’ Others will tell you that they see the same results in the $10 to $15 products.

Biotin

Biotin, also known as vitamin B7, is one of eight essential B vitamins that your body needs to support hundreds of biological functions. This vitamin is best known for how it supports the structure of proteins that form the hair, skin, and nails. But biotin also supports other important systems of the body, like the eyes, liver, and nervous system. It may even help your body maintain healthy glucose levels and support vitality.

Many people swear by biotin, and it is incredibly easy to add to your diet. Biotin is naturally found in many foods, is available in multivitamins, or it can be found in beauty products. Biotin supplements are also inexpensive, starting at around $6 for a 3 month supply of capsules. Beauty products may ring up more expensive, but buyer beware that some companies will try to charge you more for a product that do the same thing as the cheaper alternative.

While sustaining a healthy lifestyle is hard to do this day in age, these four ingredients, when used consistently, may help to improve your health, mood, and overall wellbeing. Not to mention that many brands have figured out how to formulate quality, budget friendly products that get the job done. Consider adding any of these to your daily routine and see if it makes a difference to your health!
