Then i just can throw it away. You can buy 100 for about 5 dollars, lasts a long time.Rebecca C.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18432808721237230481noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1300660817354328186.post-64456831419279167812014-09-10T20:18:28.759+00:002014-09-10T20:18:28.759+00:00Try baking soda, anonymous. With turkey being so cheap at this time of year I decided to buy a 20# when it was on sale for 50 cents a pound and try my hand at grinding my own turkey meat but without using the rest of the turkey it really isn't that cost effective. However, I am making stock, rendering the fat, using the crispy skins as treats for my dogs, although I will try it in place of bacon Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1300660817354328186.post-82997831894899337182013-11-27T22:07:28.832+00:002013-11-27T22:07:28.832+00:00If one has a fine mesh sieve, there isn't need...If one has a fine mesh sieve, there isn't need for cheesecloth or separting out the bones, correct?revertonoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1300660817354328186.post-53767997349748724152013-10-10T01:49:38.091+00:002013-10-10T01:49:38.091+00:00Yay! (happened upon a good chicken sale, ended up with a lot of fat/skin trimmings) My cooking method actually mirrored yours and now I know to strain the remaining liquid. The outdoor feral kitties actually got the cracklin's. The fat sitting on top of the stock helps to preserve it when it is cold. I use the same stock to boil the next batch of chicken so over time it becomes very rich.<br />Jayne MeonAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
